Mariner Best: David Masters - a veteran and absolute class act who rounded off a very good new ball attack for the Wildcats, round 9 was far too long for him to last Worst: Simon Kerrigan - way too soon, the fact Kerrigan went 5 rounds before Masters is a travesty Overall Squad Depth: C+ A team that could end up dominating on the back of the man beast which is Steyn but really lacks in batting depth. Dale Steyn Matt Prior Tim Bresnan Simon Kerrigan Ashwell Prince Azhar Ali Quinton de Kock Ramnaresh Sarwan David Masters Paras Dogra Rikki Clarke Luke Ronchi Piyush Chawla Robin Bist Jalaj Saxena Eoin Morgan Matt Coles Chris Wright
Skippos Best: Nasir Hossain - I've always been a big fan of Nasir Hossain and had some plans to potentially pick him myself. Definitely a round 10 pick that should be looking to play the entire season for the Dereks. Worst: AB de Villiers - AB is potentially the greatest cricketer in the world right now, he bats, he keeps, he captains and when he doesn't have the gloves he is the greatest there is in the field. But no. The correct answer was Philander. Also Saman? Yuck. The absolute definition of "people not understanding Sri Lankan cricket". Overall Squad Depth: B- A lot of batting strength here and some very handy lower order players could see the Dereks be fairly formidable when conditions suit. Not much to write home about in terms of the bowling however. AB de Villiers Mahela Jayawardene Abdur Rehman Chris Morris Jim Allenby Will Gidman Ahmed Shehzad Ehsan Adil Asad Shafiq Nasir Hossain Lokesh Rahul Robin Peterson Thilina Kandamby Saliya Saman Sam Whiteman Tendai Chatara Shamsur Rahman Jehan Mubarak
Prez Best: Brendon McCullum - You picked him up after he got ignored all the way to round 7 and he then proceded to score a million runs against India. You lucky fuck. Worst: Andrew Hall - would've been your best pick if you had selected him in round 10, but round 6? Awful. Hall in his current incarnation is a jack of all trades and master of none. Would have been a brilliant hole-filler later on in the draft, but by edging out a better man he created a hole instead. Overall Squad Depth: B Prez managed to pick a lot of decent bits and pieces players which gives him some strong overall depth. His best and worst XI are probably closer than a majority of teams though so I still think he is a bit of an outside shot for the top 8. Also Philander is h4x. Vernon Philander Jonathan Trott Faf du Plessis Murali Vijay Andrew Birch Andrew Hall Brendon McCullum Parthiv Patel Peter Fulton Alfonso Thomas Yasir Shah Samit Patel Chris Martin Davy Jacobs Yaseen Vallie Corne Dry Michael Papps Dane Piedt
For me can we ignore Iridium's picks so I can see who the worst pick was apart from Tsotsobe? :ninja:
Speirz Best: Dwayne Bravo - See Prez? If you picked Hall here you could've gotten a pat on the back like Speirz here. Arguably better than Hall and picked in round 13. WAG. Worst: Patrick Cummins - A massive gamble that early. Cummins has barely played cricket. It's a pick that ended up really hurting your overall balance too, as the solid 3rd bowling option came so much later. Overall Squad Depth: C To start with I think a lot of people thought Speirz was going to struggle after the first 10 rounds of picks. Personally, I reckon his first 10 rounds weren't as solid as his back 8. Really managed to pull his team together and made it a side that should threaten the top half. Hashim Amla Nathan Lyon Ben Hilfenhaus Ryan ten Doeschate Patrick Cummins Shaun Marsh Mark Cosgrove Nuwan Kulasekara Peter Nevill Callum Ferguson Paul Collingwood Praveen Kumar Dwayne Bravo Mohammad Kaif James Tredwell Tim Ambrose Robin Uthappa
Bravo better than Hall? Have you seen Hall's performances in CC cricket recently? I'll admit Bravo at 13th > Hall at 6th comfortably, but Hall is comfortably better than Bravo for mine.
Athlai Best: VVS Laxman - a brilliant pickup in round 12, this guy would start for any team Worst: VVS Laxman - except for the team you've decided to select, WASC. The actual worst is obviously Jeetan Patel. Should probably not get a game. And fuck you guys. Overall Squad Depth: B+ Overall I think my later round picks were some of the best in the draft, my first XI though is what will get me into trouble. I'm a shot for top 8 but I think a few injuries to my high calibre players will see me doomed to middle tier obscurity. Tim Southee Darren Bravo Daniel Vettori Quinton Friend Brendan Taylor Thilan Samaraweera Mushfiqur Rahim Kirk Edwards Ravi Rampaul James Franklin Martin Guptill VVS Laxman Pankaj Singh Luis Reece Chamara Silva Jeetan Patel Fidel Edwards Devon Smith
Howe Best Pick: Kyle Jarvis - Your best bowler IMO, and picked pretty late. h8 you. Worst Pick: Marchant de Lange - 9 Test wickets and they were ages ago. I'm not sure if should have went in the first round 10 rounds let alone first 4. Not a mistake you could afford to make after picking Hafeez in round 2. Overall Squad Depth: B Very few poor picks here and a pretty solid 18. Might prove to be a little toothless without a genuine strike bowler. A team to watch, could surprise with their depth. Kumar Sangakkara Mohammad Hafeez Marlon Samuels Marchant de Lange Steve O'Keefe Kyle Jarvis Glenn Chapple Manish Pandey Chris Nash Robert Key Steven Davies R Vinay Kumar Owais Shah Amit Mishra Tanvir Ahmed Trent Johnston Chris Read Madawa Warnapura
Nino Best Pick: Chris Gayle - I'm fairly certain Gazza thinks this is his worst. He'd be wrong. Gayle smashes it harder than an Indian in Rego's exes bedroom and is one of the better openers in the world. Worst Pick: James Hildreth - Okay so you guys didn't make any bad picks. Gazza you dirty stats whore. Overall Squad Depth: A- Yeah these guys should be in the top 8, the lack of any real bowling stars may see them never cross the finish line and dominate the standings but with a squad this full of quality we should expect them to go far. Michael Clarke Steven Finn Chris Gayle Ajantha Mendis Matthew Wade Ben Cutting Toby Roland-Jones Dheeraj Jadhav Ambati Rayudu James Hildreth Jeevan Mendis Mahesh Rawat Abdur Rauf James Harris Daniel Flynn Craig Cachopa Akshath Reddy Nathan Rimmington
